Brooding Brits look to travel to cheer up
When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Or take a holiday. A new study out by Expedia.co.uk shows when the going gets rough, a majority of Brits are heading out of town.
Being fired, dumped or getting hit with a mid-life crisis seems to be as good as reason as any to take a trip. The typical honeymoon, wedding anniversary and big birthday are still the top stimulus for vacation, but many Brits are using a change of scenery to help get them out of the doldrums as well.
When times get tough, Expedia found nearly 40% of travelers will head abroad for some true perking up. Pissup.com, Eastern Europe’s largest party organiser sympathizes with those having a hard time, with a bevy of trouble forgetting activities and a staff that knows how to party.
“The majority of our groups are celebrating something; stag or hen weekend, someone’s birthday, the end of a sports season,” says Tom Kenyon, Sales Manager for Pissup.com. “However, we see a lot of groups coming to get their minds off of something; loss of job, divorce or the big 4-0.”
Luckily, cheap Eastern European cities and low cost airlines abound, giving the depressed one and his loyal mates an easy, affordable weekend away. About 30% of Pissup.com’s business is groups other than stag or hen parties. No matter the mood, the variety of activities offered in each of their five destinations ensures some major lifting of spirits. For example, how about zorbing in Bratislava, flying in a military jet in Prague, some tank driving in Warsaw, pistol shooting in Tallinn or even an airsoft machine gun shoot-off in Budapest? And for the ultimate girl’s getaway? How about a shopping extravaganza in Budapest, a pole-dancing party in Warsaw or a pampering spa visit in Bratislava?
No matter your troubles, no matter your reasons, Pissup.com guarantees an amazing weekend away.
