Stuttgart City Guide for Stag Weekends

Situated in the South West of Germany, Stuttgart is the sixth largest city in Germany with a population of approximately 600,000 and is the beautiful capital of Baden-Württemberg region. Like all German cities this was once part of an autonomous region, meaning it has its own traditional food, drink and culture. Which means you should use your stag trip as an excuse to try the local wine and beer.

This city really does have something for everyone, be it action or relaxation. The tourist industry is booming in Stuttgart and last year saw a record high of tourists visit this awesome city. But this city is more than just a historic place, it is also the living breathing heart of Germany’s, and indeed Europe's, motor industry - with Porsche, and Mercedes manufactured and exported round the world.

Flights to Stuttgart

Getting to Stuttgart is easy with flights taking a mere 90 minutes from London’s various airports. German Wings and British Airways depart from Stansted and Heathrow respectively on a daily basis and tickets start from as low as £82 return. There are frequent flights from Birmingham and Manchester also for around £50 each way. Obviously if you want sun the best time to come is July and August, where temperatures can get up to 25 degrees (this is Southern Germany after all!). So remember to slap on that sunscreen when you go out for hair of the dog after a hard night on the town.

Not only does a Stuttgart stag do provide great nightlife, but it also offers some of our best range of daytime activities. For car lovers a trip to the Porsche and Mercedez Benz museums await. Here you will find German engineering at its very best with some seriously swanky motors on display. If you prefer caps to cars, then we can take those of you with an itchy trigger finger to the local . For the football crazy football mad among you we will take you to the impressive Mercedes Benz Arena, home to VfB Stuttgart for either a Bundesliga game or a Stadium Tour. For the big kids among you, we will take you to the local water park where you can enjoy three hours of fun on the flumes and chat up the local tottie!

What about other adrenaline-based activities in Stuttgart? After seeing all those classic and modern cars around the city, those car-lovers among you will want to put the pedal to the metal. And while we can’t offer you a Porsche to drive round it we can offer you a session at the Indoor Go-Karting track. There you’ll get 12 laps of qualifying followed by a 25 lap race. There’s even a bottle of bubbly waiting for the winner AKA the Louis Hamilton of Go Karting (an unofficial title, but feel free to use it if you win!).

If you love the idea of shooting but actually want to hit a real target (without fatalities) then Indoor Paintball is the activity for you. You’ll get to play in a variety of different paintball scenarios such as ‘Capture the Flag’ and ‘Death Match’. Paintball is the ideal time to get your revenge on your mates; and also to make sure that the poor stag goes home with plenty of bruises! You’ll get sixty minutes inside the paintball arena plus 200 balls: more than enough to make sure that he’s scarred for life…okay not for life, but at least long enough for his future wife to see!

Aaaaahhhh Relax in Stuttgart

When we Brits think of traditional Germany, we tend to think of Bavarian style Hansel and Grettle style towns and ice cold beer served by busty barmaids! Stuttgart isn't in Bavarian but it certainly can compete with its ‘rival’ Munich when it comes to beer festivals. The Cannstatter Wasen is almost as old as Oktoberfest, with all the traditions and typical sights of that most famous beer festival. With an added bonus: there are far fewer tourists here clogging up the place, and there is a smaller festival in the spring if you miss the one in Autumn.

Don’t worry if you aren’t arriving in the city when the beer festivals are taking place. If you want a traditional German experience in Stuttgart we can sort that out for you! You can book up a German Meal (and beers), and enjoy a local Swabian favourite of pork and dumplings, with some nice local brews to wash it down with. But what about seeing the sights and absorbing some of the local culture (apart from food and drink!). Well, if the sun is out then we'd suggest heading to Castle Place (Schlossplatz) in the heart of the city centre, here you can soak up the sun and check out the city’s friendly females! The city has plenty of parks in which you can spend lazy days, and the exotic plants and animals of Wilhelma Zoo is a great location where you can refrain from the booze and recharge your batteries for the evening’s debauchery.
